Refrigerated Carriers

Our client is responsible for the storage, distribution and transport for the largest fast food group in New Zealand and were needing to speed up their pallet wrapping operation in order to process the required number of pallets to meet the demand from the group’s outlets across the country. Traditionally wrapping had been done by hand or on semi-automatic wrapping machines. A solution was required to increase the pallets wrapped per hour without having to commit further labour units to the operation.

Universal Packaging supplied a Spinny S500 Wrapper with an automated film clamp and film cut and wipe system including a heat sealer to weld the film tail at the completion of the wrapping cycle. The operator simply delivered the pallet to the wrapper and without having to dismount from their forklift, then activated the wrap cycle by remote control, eliminating the need to dismount to attach the film to the pallet or start the machine.

This solution increased throughput and eliminated the bottleneck in the operation allowing delivery’s to be made in full and on time. It also significantly reduced film consumption and increased wrap consistency and load integrity which reduced product damages and returns.
